Coronavirus (Covid-19) Update

Official government support page

At the time of writing this the UK and much of the world is adjusting to the impacts of Coronavirus.

Many “at risk” working groups and individuals are either in lock-down or self isolating.

Where does this leave the podiatry profession?

The College of Podiatry have a dedicated page to give information to both members and non members alike. Check it out here.

In light of the current Government advice, The College of Podiatry advises that: A frontline health care worker is a medical professional who delivers essential or routine medical treatment and that includes podiatry in whatever sector it is delivered.

The College of Podiatry Coronavirus advice

The Alliance of private sector practitioners have released a PDF statement. You can download it direct here.

The Institute of chiropodists and podiatrists has a link on their main web page to direct you too a blog with additional links to Coronavirus information here.

The SMAE institute currently at time of print don’t have any information on their website. They do however have a separate members sign in option which may contain further information for members.

Can you still buy Podiatry Supplies?

Whilst the Royal mail and other major couriers continue to operate then online retailers can still contine to trade if business is sufficient to carry on trading.

The availability of various podiatry equipment and consumables will come down to existing stock availability and supplier capacity.

In a lot of situations this has to do more with cash flow, there is government support for both businesses and individuals.

What are the podiatry trade suppliers web presence saying?

Canonbury healthcare have put out a number of news releases on their website. the first is from Hans offering support.

DLT Podiatry have released a blog post entitled “coming clean about sanitisers” on their website discussing in some length the efficiency of Clinisept+.

In a telling post on the Trycare website. It kind of highlighted what was to become a big issue. PPE supply. See the post here from the 5th of March.

Just Care Podiatry have a big banner announcement on their homepage giving basic details about their corona virus measures.

It shoul dbe noted that alot of Trade suppliers communicate i a much more personal way than just website announcement.

Never more has the support and compassionate nature of the podiatry profession been needed.
