Summary:

A popular bench top podiatry autoclave the Little Sister 2010 combines simple features with reliability.

More Details

One of the longest serving podiatry autoclaves the Eschmann Little Sister is sturdy and uncomplicated.

The Eschmann Little Sister SES2010 is an iconic autoclave in the Podiatry market. One of the best known manufacturers Eschmann combine high quality manufacturing with a tried and trusted design, make the SES2010 a very popular choice amongst Podiatrists. The 11 litre SES2010 has been in the UK podiatry Autoclave market for over 20 years having undergone several minor upgrades over the years. Eschmann have remained loyal to this design resisting the temptation to discontinue the model. A traditional front loader, the 11 litre capacity will hold 6 examination trays (or sets) making this the ideal autoclave for the busy clinic. Although it isn’t a vacuum steriliser the fast turnaround for the sterilisation cycle means a steady stream of sterile instruments are available. Backup and servicing is well covered as the machine has the backing of one of the largest autoclave suppliers in the market as well as engineers country wide who are able to service and repair these machines.

The 2010 has a front loading design accommodating 2 full size trays & 2 examination, or 6 examination. Filling the machine is easy with a simple 2 litre reservoir at the top back. The machine has a choice of 121 or 134 degree cycles with or without drying option. this is suitable for sterilising unwrapped solid loads.

Key featurers

  • ‘N’ Type Sterilising Cycle
  • 11 Litre Capacity
  • 6 Examination Trays
  • 12 minute cycle
  • 2 litre reservoir
  • Printer
  • Good Reliability
  • Extensive backup and support

How big is the SES2010?

The dimensions of the Little Sister 2010 are 468 mm (d) x 460 mm (w) x 360 mm (h). This could be considered a mid size bench top autoclave. you will need a suitable work surface to place the autoclave. A large dressing instrument trolley on wheels can be useful.

Think in advance where your autoclave will go, will you have space to ventilate.

How much does it weigh?

Without any instruments in it the Little sister 2010 weighs 26.5kgs. These can be delivered by courier and are often fitted retrospectively. They usually need tow people to lift and are not suitable for transport on a regular basis.

Can you sterilise wrapped baggged instruments?

No, this is an ‘N’ type NON vacuum autoclave, this is only suitable for unwrapped solid instruments. The instruments must be laid out on trays in a single layer without touching ideally after being rinsed and ultrasonically cleaned.

How many instruments will it sterilise?

You are able to fit two different configuration of trays on the autoclave. Using the examination trays theoretical you are able to get 6 sets of podiatry instruments. I say theoretical as the types of instruments will vary between clinitions and procedure. Just don’t stack the instruments. The steam needs to be able to circulate around the instruments.

Does the SES2010 have a printer

Yes, the later SES2010’s do come with a printer as standard. This enables automated record keeping of sterilising cycles. The earlier SES2010 machines had the option of fitting the printer retrospectively. The printer rolls come in packs of 5 including 2 printer ribbons.

How much does it cost to have it serviced?

The Little Sister autoclave is relatively easy to service. As it’s a well known established model to the manufacturers and independent engineers alike. you can opt for one off servicing or a service contract for peace of mind. The main element of any servicing is the call out charge. This cannot be avoided as it’s the biggest overhead of a service department. A one off service visit can be found for as little as £100 + parts depending on location. Service contracts can vary depending on number of visits. It’s a good idea to weigh up how often you’re using the machine and match your servicing to suit. It’s a good idea to have an emergency contingency plan of your machine should fail.

Where can you buy an Eschmann Little Sister SES2010 Autoclave?

This popular autoclave is available from a number of the most well known podiatry suppliers, you can check out our page here. This route is recommended if your already a customer and enjoy the support and discount offered by your supplier. Or you’re just setting up and looking for a discount on a new clinic package.
